Does any one a tang in a sump that is willing to let me borrow it for a few weeks? It will only be Temporary to take care of my hair algae. I had a nutrient issue and hair algae started growing in odd places, nutrient levels are good now but the algae is still there, need something to eat it. Emerald crab and hermits are not doing their job. My tank is only 24gal but this is only temporary for the tang.

24g not enough room for a tang.
Definitely a sea hair about $10 at your local fish store

Try blue leg hermit crab. The bigger one. Will eat it up over night. I would let you borrow mine but I only have one. And he's not enough for my tank.

Tuxedo urchin, turbo snails and emerald crabs all goble the stuff down pretty good!
Only fish I'd recommend for that job would be either a lawnmower Blenny or starry Blenny.

Really? That's weird. My Yellow Tang loved hair algae.
None of mine (I've had probably 30 different tang species during the last 8 years) have ever consumed h.a. that I've noticed, and I would have noticed. Maybe I feed the fish too well.

My yellow tang would eat hair algae right off a frag plug. I wouldn't even care if I frag I purchased had any algae on it. It wouldn't last 5 minutes. I wish I didn't have to give it up when I broke down my 120.

That sounds like a good fish! Too bad you had to give him up.

I did some research on sea hares. I think I'm going with that. Anyone have one I can borrow? I can buy one but I dunno what to do with it after the algae is gone
I usually give it back to the lfs after it's done. But you can also pass the Sea hare to another reefer that can't afford $10!

I have a turbo snail the size of a golf ball, and an emerald crab. Doesn't touch the H. A. I added more red leg hermits, blue leg hermits, zebra hermits nothing is touching is the h. A. I even went on a reduced feeding schedule where I feed a few pellets at a time for the fish making sure very few goes under eaten. To starve out the Cuc. I thought maybe cuz it's too over grown that they don't eat it, so I manually ripped it out. But what's left they still aren't eating. I hope the sea hare is better

Do you use a phosphate reducing media?
