I have a turbo snail the size of a golf ball, and an emerald crab. Doesn't touch the H. A. I added more red leg hermits, blue leg hermits, zebra hermits nothing is touching is the h. A. I even went on a reduced feeding schedule where I feed a few pellets at a time for the fish making sure very few goes under eaten. To starve out the Cuc. I thought maybe cuz it's too over grown that they don't eat it, so I manually ripped it out. But what's left they still aren't eating. I hope the sea hare is better
Over time with several tanks, I've had great success with Scarlet Hermits eating hair algae and currently have them in my setup with no hair algae on the rocks. The only place in the last couple months that I've seen with Scarlets was Tong's in HB.

Do you use a phosphate reducing media?
I use seachem seagel, which is carbon and phosguard. Not quite phosban but it's OK. I have a algae scrubber but I think I went a little too long before harvesting the scrubber so the algae shifted to the display. Now it's out competing the scrubber sort of, as the scrubber is not doing as well even though the scrubber has longer lighting and better growing conditions. My tank isn't like covered in algae or anything, its just a hand full of patches that is odd that I can't quite rip out completely, and of course it comes back in the spot. My phosphate was at 0.19 but that's been corrected. It's single digits now

I usually give it back to the lfs after it's done. But you can also pass the Sea hare to another reefer that can't afford $10!
OK so $30 and two sea hares later. Not working. Initially they look like they can eat hair algae link a champ, but I dunno if they are too dumb or is blind but basically avoids any notible patches. Also, both of them did not last more than 3days in my tank. Drip Acclimated them both for a few hrs. When the first one died it looked like cleaner shrimp were attacking it, so I removed the cleaner shrimp before buying the second one, nope, it still died in 3 days.
