I'll just do some photos by example of my pretty much standard acan.

this is the image directly out of the camera - i specifically set the camera to "neutral" where it doesn't apply any processing, that's why it looks faded. I prefer it that way so i retain the most data

this is what I consider "WYSIWYG".. it's very close to the actual colors. the macro gives it more depth, therefore, emphases some shadows and creates some "color" from that

and now, the power of photo editing.

I didn't "replace" any colors. I simply bumped the luminance of different shades of color.

Hey guys, just got done with 2+ hours of driving thru LA traffic, thank god I don't do this much. Currently just beside a starbucks in El Segundo before my next stop...

Anyways, since the cat is already out of the bag, YES, it was an item from Reef Lounge USA.

Vu, I sincerely apologize if you were disappointed. I wish you acknowledged that when I was 15 feet away from you during your 'pick up' purchase. You've purchased eBay auction from us in the past. We would have easily worked this out via phone, email, PMs, etc. You and everyone here knows where I am 7 days a week. I would have a happily credit/traded for another item or refunded and you would've not had to go through all this trouble over a $25 Rainbow acan versus fouling the rep of my operation.

Regarding the photography. Many people here that knows me well, know that I do my best display the full beauty of coral specimen while not adding on colors or an extra 20 levels of highlights. I keep it simple; white balance, contrast, and brightness. The rest is left to the camera settings and macro lens. Myself and my currently in-store photographer look at photoshopping with extreme prejudice, though it is the best means to get true colors via means of filters, it can be severely abuse which we do not condone.

Regarding out ebay system. As you saw in person, it is a 100 gallon frag system where we consolidate all of our picks for eBay. Like Apex, its all about control, I don't want items on the floor accidentally sold when it gets listed. The corals spend 2-4 days acclimating prior to pictures being taken, then it is usually 1-3 days before our auction is started for another 3-5 days. Following which, 70% of which are shipped out or picked up within the next 3 days. When all is said and done, it can be up to 2 weeks from the day the coral is moved til is goes to the end user. Can colors be lost in 2 weeks? Possibly.

Regarding acan corals. Ask anyone like myself who are passionate with acans. They morph ALL the time; water condition, lighting, temperature, feeding, etc. Just last week I salvage brown acans from a system with 1.22 phosphate, within 5 days under metal halides, they were true red again. But even with a blurry android phone pic you took, I can still see the green, blue, ring of yellow, white, and orangish-red that makes it a true rainbow.

I'm not a crook or hustler, I'm in the wrong business slinging true Rainbow acans at $25 if I was. Though I wasn't in the same room when you were picking up the item to see and defuse your frustration, I am more than willing to make it right within reason as many other members here know.

great example Jeff! That third picture, I dunno what button does luminance (don't wanna know), but definitely photo editing abuse in severe form.

I've been buying corals from Wally for years and never would I accuse him of PS abuse, in fact I'd say typically I think he goes under and the coral usually looks even better in person. And his eBay auctions are great, usually snag something so cheap I feel bad when I go to pick it up, mother taught me stealing was wrong and it feels like that sometimes... You're the man Wally, keep doing what you're doing.

Well, it started out as a simple question "WYSIWYG. What does it really mean?"; It is not about a $25 or $60 or even a $150 acan frag. Its about a WYSIWYG picture and the actual item received. I did not agree with putting a picture like A and deliver an item like B in my case. However, as you see we have a few people disagreeing with me and I am fine with that.
I did not post this because of the $25. I thought it was useful to some people, so I shared my experience and that was it. Why did I not make a big deal about it at the store, I already responded to that.

I'm not going to respond to this thread any more as I see it has become a bashing thread which was not my intention. I have said all I needed to say. If you read my posts carefully, you will see my point has not changed from the beginning to the end.

So I saw this wysiwyg picture on a listing and I bought it expecting the actual item is not going to be as good, but hopefully near the picture (70%-80%). When I got to see the coral in person, I recognized the plug, the shape of the coral, but it is nothing like the picture on the listing in terms of colors. I asked the guy how he got the picture to be looking like that. He turned on the red LEDs all the way, but that did not change the look of the coral much if not at all. I thought of photoshop???? I am not very good at Photoshop, but I don't think photoshop can even do this :) or a lot of time is needed to be spent on the picture which was not really worthy in term of cost of doing business. The only explanation I could come up with is that the coral actually looked like that when he took the picture, but over time it has lost all its red, yellow colors....

Anyway, what you think of wysiwyg? I am sure I did not get what I see in the picture because all the colors are gone except green (LOL). It is the coral, the model, in the picture however.....

Listing

Android phone picture
Looking at the pic you took with your phone once you got home I can still count 4 and possibly 5 different colors in that acan. I know people have differing opinions as to what constitutes an "ultra" acan over an A grade acan, but this seems to be an Ultra IMO. Even if it wasn't and was an A grade that's still a smoking deal for $25.

I don't think I have ever been to Wallys store or met him but I may have to stop one of these days now lol
