I like big jugs and I can not lie, all you other reefs can’t deny!

Ok i bought the gallon reagent kits from ABCreagents.com
Well after José had pointed out that air is the enemy of reagents I got to thinking, “how can I eliminate air from getting to the reagents?” So I a page for how a soda fountain machine works. The concentrated soda syrup is in a bag in a box. When the syrup is used the bag deflates and the syrup gets vacuumed out and air never touches the syrup until it’s mixed in the fountain machine.
After searching Amazon I found heavy duty plastic balloons. These are the same balloons you see used for decorations with roses or other balloons inside them. They are so strong it actually took compressed air to get them to expand.

I had to let them sit fully inflated for a week at 20” just to get them to stay expanded.
Then I purchased three 2mm stainless steel tubes. These are the draw straws.

I then took three 1 gallon jugs a drilled tiny breather holes near the top of the jug.

So after the ballon’s were expanded I deflated them and shoved them into the jugs and filled the balloons with the reagents

Next I drilled a small hole in the bottom plastic of my trident, this was to run the tubing down to the gallon jugs. Then I made a cheap shelf for the trident to sit on above the jugs.

Then I connected the tubes to the straws and primed the lines

The trident is currently calibrating so I’ll see how this works out and keep it updated.

It’s been over a month now and the trident is still running pretty spot on with my Red Sea pro test kits

Well done; air exposure has been my concern with buying the big reagent option from ABC. The balloons really minimize exposure. I've had good results with their 4-month kit.

Do you think the metal rod will puncher the ballon or cut off the supply as it deflates?

I highly doubt it. The balloons aren’t standard balloons. They are high strength TPU material. I had to used compressed air just to get them to expand. I had to let each balloon sit for a week filled to about 20” just so they can hold the size I needed. I tried after a day of one being filled and it went back to it regularly size.

That’s what should happen. Have you ever seen how a soda fountain machine works? The soda flavoring comes in a 5g bag in a box

The syrup in the box is a concentrate that gets mixed with water and carbonation in the machine.
I’m kinda using the same idea as the bag in the box. Just a bag in a bottle

I don't quite understand this air problem. Here is an excerpt from an exchange I had with ABC reagents.

OK. Ok. Using 1 gallon bottles, I will pour when the Trident canisters are empty. Is the air in the 1 gallon containers a problem?

ABC Reagents

Air is not a problem. I don’t know why people think air is an issue.

CoralVue is now distributing the abc reagents so it should be I. More places very soon. We had a discussion with Jonas from ABC and he advised us that the all reagent is basically the same mix but he did a couple twist of things on the calcium and magnesium reagent where he said this should make these even more accurate. I think I gave away about 10 of these to stores in NorCal last week. Some samples will be going to Socali stores very soon so ask your Lfs about these if you do not see them. Much better value and product quality then the OG mix
