How large should zoa polyps be? Is it just a preference? Or do larger or smaller polyps indicate health? Same question about the arms (not sure what they are called) but does length indicate health? I have seen some polyps that look very large and others that look very small just wondering if that means anything or if its just a characteristic of a specific zoa

Zoas/palys come in different sizes. Palys are larger in size. IME, the plumper they look the healthier. Also I believe when the zoas stretch out, they are trying to get more light.

from my experience...zoas and palys will change size depending on the lighting they are given. If you put two frags of the exact same zoas under really bright lighting and really dim lighting the really bright ones will usually become smaller and the really dim ones will be come larger in an attempt to collect more light. usually they will get longer "arms" as you called them under dim lighting too. as stated above though...each type of zoa and paly will have it's own characteristics too though

so if they have small polyps ans small arms is it possible that the zoa is getting too much light? Would bleaching be the only indicator of too much or too little light?
