i have some yellow brick road zoas that haven't been open for 2 weeks now. i took the rock they were on off the frag plug and glued them on a rock. now they don't open ever. i tried fresh water dipping and a little stuff fell off, but it didn't seem too harmful. any thoughts?

here are the params
sg - 1.025
ammonia - 0
Mg - 1260
Ca - 370
Alkalinity - 7

the other zoas are opening just fine. there is a little green algae next to it, but i have removed it. should i take it off the rock and put it on a clean plug? they haven't melted yet, but don't look good.

nitrates are pretty close to 0. i guess i could leave them alone more, but man 2 weeks... wondering if they'll die eventually.
I've had zoas close for weeks like 6-8 and came back, zoas are weird sometimes. They can do great in one tank and not so great in another. You have low nutrients and some zoa like higher nutrients. Also flow can be a factor. You haven't had any fluctuations?

What Are your phosphates at? Your alk is pretty low. Maybe try raising it into the 8 range.

did a water change on monday. i'm using instant ocean salt. always had those kinda low parameters with this batch of salt i think.

they are getting LED 89w lights. the other zoas seem to be doing ok. i did a par test awhile ago and they're close to the sand. it's about 110 par at most down there.

here's a pic

yea so it's a 30 gallon jbj nano cube with the 89w LED lights. the zoas are close to the sand bed, but there are other zoas next to it. in the pic you can see the other zoas that are still open below it. i just turned on the lights to take the pic, yes there is lots of algae around it and i'm wondering if that's a cause???

What test kit are you using? Sometimes they fail and sometimes they just suck. Algae can irritate them and is usually caused by excess nutrients. You can try a sea hare, lawnmower Blenny, or various snails and crabs to consume the algae, reduce feedings, or do a 3day lights out to try to control it. If all else fails I've heard of peroxide dips (50/50 or less peroxide) being successful.

yea i have tons of algae, and tons of snails. snails don't seem to do anything. i have ceriths, nerites, and torchus snails.

i did reduce feedings as most food was eaten up, but as i added fish i have been a little more sloppy with feedings so that's on me. would peroxide dips kill off the zoas i glued on the rock?

Zoa should be ok, but I would leave the peroxide as a last resort. And just make sure to dilute it down with some tank water. Some do 50/50 but I would do 70%tank water and 30% peroxide. Check your tank, Make sure you have enough flow in your tank and have something rippling the top of water to allow better gas exchange. Make sure you have enough live rock for filtration, the more the better. Also I would raise your levels just a tad they are on the low side.

yea i know i have kind of low levels. i need to fix that. I bought a kit from bulkreefsupply to supplement everything.

i forgot to answer some questions and give more stats on the tank. i'm using salifert test kits for all of them. i have about 25 lbs of live rock and 3-4 inches of live sand (for a jawfish) a possum wrasse and firefish.

does it have a brown film over it. i would try a lugos dip and brush off the top with your finger lightly.
