Awesome. How did you prep? Is everything automated? Have you tested your water yet?
Everything is automated except feeding. We have nurses in and out of here every other day to look after g-ma asked one to feed them a couple times when we were gone.

No - I haven't tested yet. I cleaned the glass (hey! there are fish in there!) and am cleaning the skimmer and changing the filter sock now. Kinda scurred to test the water... :S

Again, awesome. I'm taking a 10 day in August and want to have everything automated & monitored by then.

I'm sure you're tests will be cool. Nothing a water change can't fix at worst I'd imagine. So now, honestly, we're you worried or relaxed about it during?

I'm currently on day 4 from a 8 day vacation. Everything is automated. I have someone checking the tank daily as well.

Go gamble and lose some money. And change your signature that's like saying Socali members are low ballers and pirates.

I was in Europe for the last 6-weeks of Grad School (2006) but had a controller hooked up to the internet so I could monitor the tank.

- any pH swings indicated that my Kalk reactor was acting up.
- any salinity swings indicated that my auto top off was out of whack.
- any temp swings pointed to heater or chiller malfunctions.
- any orp swings could mean a dead fish in the tank or over-feeding, etc.

Having a responsible Tank Sitter who at least understands the basics is absolutely crucial.
However having 24/7 access to all of the above mentioned perameters really set my mind at ease.
Enough to certainly justify the cost of controller and hookups.

Honestly - I'm past the point of caring. I am in LA four days a week now, see (and clean) my tank on the weekends. In the last six months almost all my SPS have died or have been given away, and all the softies have taken over. BTW - anyone want to buy a 20+" leather ;)
