So I am finally switching to saltwater this coming Sunday. I have just a few questions left. Ok so it's been a while since I cycled a tank and haven't ever cycled saltwater tank. But anyways, should I leave my carbon filters in my HOB filter while cycling? Also, shrimp method or live rock method? If someone could give opinion and how they did it it would be greatly appreciated! Thats about it for now, it is going to just be a FOWLR tank. Thanks everyone!

Well thank you lol. Glad to be a part of the site! Any ideas on best way to cycle? And if so, how much live rock can you add at a time after the cycle is complete, wouldn't say 25 lbs of live rock be a huge bioload to introduce at once?

my cousin says the same thing... but then again, thats his answer for everything!!!

i just added all my rock, put a ton of flow, kept the lights off and tested weekly till the params were good.

good luck with the tank and welcome!

My initial setup I put all my rock in. If I were to do it again, I would do the same. I never ran carbon until recently.
One thing about this hobby. 1 question, 10 different answers.

I think I waited something like two and a half months. But I made my own water. I think if you buy natural saltwater it's shorter or doesn't even happen.
