Howdy

I've had a thread over on RC for awhile, thought I'd start one on socali as I've met some good people while selling stuff over here. I recently moved and broke down my 300g, I'll be reef-less at my house for the first time in 16 years, but this 50g in my office is enough to feed my habit for now. I set this tank up in February of 2012, I started with all frags, over time I added a few mini colonies from my home tank but everything else has been grown out from the original frags. I'll start with some current shots, then I'll post a little progression sequence

Those are some serious equipment! Where did you get the retractable pulley for your floating canopy? This is the only reason I haven't installed my hood because I dnt know a proper way of elevating it. Your setup is amazing! Built like a pro

UPDATES

The top corals are really starting to grow out from the rock and they were badly shading some of my favorite corals that were mounted to the lower section, so I decided to mount a Kessil 150 to the front of my canopy, I went with the 20k. My initial thought is that it made the tank a little too blue but it may grow on me....if not I will have a Kessil up for sale very soon :) I also replaced the substrate and added a reactor with a small amount of carbon, I hadn't been a fan of carbon and had not run it up to this point but many corals are starting to grow into each other and the potential fall out from chemical warfare had me concerned

and here's some progression shots

hello,

I had a few questions;

nice scape. so do you drill holes in the rock to put the plug in? also do you glue it? probably too hard to do if you have water in the tank. what size drill bit works for the plugs.

thanks,
d
