Hey guys, just wanted to give a heads up on a pretty serious issue that I am dealing with from BRS. I purchased a BRS 6 stage R/O D/I from a local supplier. After a month of waiting it finally came in.
When setting it up I noticed that the inline water supply that is included will not fit the typical household shutoff valve. The fitting they supply is way too small. Pretty significant when trying to plumb this system. I was forced to use the 1/4 line bib. I dont like that at all because more chance for leaks and it creates pressure and less flow.
My TDS coming out of the water supply is roughly 211. Not bad. Out of the R/O on the first day was 22 and D/I was 0. Kind of high for it to be coming out like that. That night it climbed to 27. I thought, uh oh something not right. I checked it again Sunday morning and it was 34. Wow, something is definately wrong here. Sunday night it climbed to 59. I made the mistake of calling them for help.
Here is my MAIN ISSUE!!! I contacted BRS for some help and that is where things got bad. I mentioned that my float valve was 90 percent submerged and they told me that was normal. GGGRRRR!!!!! Then i mentioned about the TDS. They blamed my water pressure. Nope, its 59 - 63 psi. Perfect. They tried to blame my water temp. Ummmm.... Im in California, water temp here is above U.S. norm. Then they said that the TDS was finme being that high. I told them that at this rate, I would have to change D/I filters monthly. They told me sometimes that is normal. What The?????? I told them that I would be better off buying my water locally and the clown told me that most lfs wont have D/I. What does that have to do with my situation man?
I called again just a few minutes ago and was told that they will NOT deal with the end user.
Also, their website will direct you to the manufacturer if you have issues. That is just bad CS if you ask me. These guys are not what I expected from the reviews I have read. I have a 300 gallon system that is largely dependant on the water I use. This is unacceptable in my book.
Anyone else have an issue with them like this? Oh, and I left a negative review on their site and it has yet to be posted. Still up for "moderation". Hmmm... what does that tell me?

And that is why I bought from the. But now they seem to be going the way of Best Buy. From the very first sentence from them,I knew is it was going to be a problem. The guy with the monotone voice seemed like I was a bother.

Dang. Sorry to hear this. I've purchased many items from them w/o issues...BUT I've never had to call them or question any of their merch either. Seems like most of the stores I shop have incredible CS... not sure why they would treat you this way. Thx for sharing....we'll have to be aware moving FWD.

That's pretty much what I am getting at. I can't beleive a company would act like this in this hobby. Sure, I get yelled at by Chad but that's probably my own fault. but this was definitely unwarranted behavior on their part. Just read the return policy about contacting the manufacturer. They claim they are on "your" side.

I personally do not care for their line of rodi's because of what you stated. You have to buy all sorts of crap to make it work. Then like you said the water doesn't come out all that clean. I would soemtimes test phosphates out of the DI after about the 3 use. I like the maxCap spectrapure. Not the tip top but real good IME.

BRS was okay when they sent me a crushed box of supplements, they sent a replacement within 2 days and let me keep the crushed one. But their filters in general aren't the bees knees.

Normally my TDS after my RO is 6 or 7. If yours is coming out so high then it can exhaust the DI resin prematurely . I had this problem with a cheap DI setup. Now I have the big dual DI canisters and I never have anything over 0. I ordered mine from a place locally, found it thru eBay. Might wanna check them out. It's called www.filterdirect.com. The guy is out of Santa Ana . Owner is really nice. Good luck

Well my patience has finally ran out. Reid left for the day and I talked to another guy that ran a million questions by me and will not take care of this after I sent them all the pictures. They found a loophole to avoid helping me. They said I need to show them a receipt knowing that I cannot get in touch with the seller. They are insinuating that it may not be their filter. What the heck???? It says Bulk Reef Supply on the r/o. They suggested I ship them the membrane for testing at my cost. BS!!! I am done paying for other peoples mistakes.
I will update if these clowns own up to their responsibilities. My experience with them is not reflecting what I have heard about them in the past. Even walmart would have taken care of this.

Sounds like the membrane is bad or 8 I would take out the membrane and re- insert it, see if it seats betters. Sounds like raw water is getting past the membrane.

59-63psi is awfully low.....I'm running 95psi through the membrane and I get 97% rejection. You might want to look into a booster pump.

95 psi will blow out your faucet aerators, lol. Most city water regulators are around 70 psi. Some may peak at 95 but really, your psi is too high for residential plumbing. Seriously you should look Ito an issue with your regulator. 65 is recommended for r/o.

95psi is too high I agree, but I'm running a booster pump. The rated psi for a RO membrane just means that with 65psi at 77 degrees you should be getting Xgpd. I run mine at around 90-95psi on a 75gpd unit and I produce about 100gpd at 97-98%.

Actually sounds like a faulty membrane to me with that high of a TDS. That's unfortunately I've had my BRS unit for about 3 months and it is awesome.

Ok, I didn't know you had 95 with the pump. I am getting 1 gallon every 19 minutes so I am in the target area. I agree with you that it is most likely the membrane. I told brs that I refuse to pay shipping to send it to them to test. They could care less about my situation.
