I'm surprised your foxface doesn't eat it. Where are all the fish in your tank? Maybe your bioload is low?

Maybe you should also consider getting new test kits to make sure yours are reading correctly.
I got rid of several fish when I moved and I lost a firefish that jumped out when they were in the coolers before I got the tank set up and my neon goby just disappeared. A couple months ago, my Sailfin died mysteriously. So my bioload is smaller but I wouldn't think it would be that small cuz it was pretty heavy before.

Current fish list:
Blue Tang
Foxface
Dispar Anthias
2 clowns
Bicolor Blenny
Bangaii Cardinal
2 Blue Chromis
Cleaner wrasse

That's the bulb I'm using and I replaced it a couple months so thinking maybe it was old and not working. No change.

WRONG! Don't need lights out and 72 hours with lights out will kill most sps. Since we have captive pieces they freak out with that much time with out lights. When storms happen in the wild there is still a par from some light.

I know chemi clean is an antibiotic but IME it's pretty safe. Don't know why it nuked that one guys Sps tank. Maybe he mixed it with laxatives I don't know.

Dynamics in small tanks are way different than in large tanks. Quit feeding. fish can go weeks without food. increase your clean up crew. Your corals are possible stressed because you are changing their environment constantly. Let things happen in a timely manner. Change bulbs, reduce time a little. Don't even think about starting over. let nature take its course. go slow and steady. drastic moves can kill everything. rule #1 with reef tanks is patience. Learn to recognized when something is not going right and stabilize . in my case, about 50 hermit crabs did the trick. And try to increase the flow in your tank

What do you consider small?

Some fish may be able to go weeks without food before starving to death but I don't believe this is good for them. I know my Anthias would probably die for sure.

Why do you say I am changing my corals environment constantly? I have been having problems in my tank ever since I moved it from CA to Louisiana and that environment change was out of my control. That was in January though and I have been keeping everything in the tank stable ever since. I have not done anything crazy to the tank and have only even done 3 wc's in 5 months. I'm a believer that a mature tank doesn't need constant wc's.

I feel I have been very patient, maybe too patient, and it has gotten me nowhere good.

What do you think is enough flow for a 4' long tank? I have 2 PH's connected to a wavemaker. One is 1500gph and one is 1100gph. I am BB since the move in Jan but when I had sand, it wouldn't stay put cuz of too much flow.
My return pump is a Mag 9.5.

I appreciate all input. Thanks :)

What type of food are you feeding your fish? frozen? pellets?

What brand of salt are you using?

I had a problem similar to yours. What I did was to do a 50% water change with a higher quality salt like Salinity by Seachem. Then do a 5% water change every week while sucking out the cyno. Also I stopped using GFO and switched over to using bio pellets. If you feed a lot then bio pellets are the way to go. Good luck.

I believe in weekly water changes, my coral looks much better when I do not get lazy. I have never had to deal with turf algae, but removing one rock at a time each week and scrubbing it clean and a peroxide bath could help get you the upper hand. Mexican Turbos and Tuxedo Urchins can do the rest. I would add more fish as well, your bioload seems lite. I had a bubble algae problem in my garage tank, and added 10 emerald crabs. After a month it looked like they had not touched it, after 5 months the bubble algae is almost gone. Why do you think mature tanks do not need water change? Stability helps our animals thrive and gives us the upper hand, but we do not know everything that we strip or deplete with export. Water change in my eyes is important, with very few exceptions to the rule. Sorry you are having problems, they take the fun out! Go buy 5 more fish and it will give you something new to look at:)
