Dynamics in small tanks are way different than in large tanks. Quit feeding. fish can go weeks without food. increase your clean up crew. Your corals are possible stressed because you are changing their environment constantly. Let things happen in a timely manner. Change bulbs, reduce time a little. Don't even think about starting over. let nature take its course. go slow and steady. drastic moves can kill everything. rule #1 with reef tanks is patience. Learn to recognized when something is not going right and stabilize . in my case, about 50 hermit crabs did the trick. And try to increase the flow in your tank
What do you consider small?
Some fish may be able to go weeks without food before starving to death but I don't believe this is good for them. I know my Anthias would probably die for sure.
Why do you say I am changing my corals environment constantly? I have been having problems in my tank ever since I moved it from CA to Louisiana and that environment change was out of my control. That was in January though and I have been keeping everything in the tank stable ever since. I have not done anything crazy to the tank and have only even done 3 wc's in 5 months. I'm a believer that a mature tank doesn't need constant wc's.
I feel I have been very patient, maybe too patient, and it has gotten me nowhere good.
What do you think is enough flow for a 4' long tank? I have 2 PH's connected to a wavemaker. One is 1500gph and one is 1100gph. I am BB since the move in Jan but when I had sand, it wouldn't stay put cuz of too much flow.
My return pump is a Mag 9.5.
I appreciate all input. Thanks
