I want to add a nem to my tank, but Im not sure when a good time to do it is. I was told only add anemones to a "mature" tank. I want to get it in now while theres not many corals in my tank, so as to let it roam around freely till it settles in.

What do you people think? Is it safe to throw in a nem?

My tanks two months old, and parameters have been steady.

Ca-460
Mag-1300
Alk-7.3 (slowly dosing to bring this up)
Ammonia-0
Trate/Trite-0
Ph-8.2
Phos-0
Salinity-1.025
Temp-77-79

I think 2 months is a little too early in the game for a nem... More than likely if this is your first sw tank. You are still trying to feel on what works and what does not work as far as the overall system. I got my first GBTA probably around 6 months after my setup once I am more confident on my system and seeing different types of corals, fishes, and invertebrates thriving and maturing in the environment provided. I stay away from SPS and firefishes though, they do not do well in my tank lol....

Good luck!

ive had my tank up and running for about a year now and its pretty stocked! I just added a small RBTA the other day and my clarkii loves it. I would wait maybe 5-6 months.

i honestly don't think nems need a mature tank....i got a bubble tip at 3 months and it was thriving...the only reason i got rid of it is because i got bored lol...at 5 months i started adding nicer nems....i'm not at 6 months and i have 3 RBTA's and 3 GBTA's....i think it has to do with the commitment to ur tank....i checked water levels daily to keep my nem happy

Now you tell me!!! Lol, I'm happy with the hammer. I'm sure I could have pulled it off, but but decided to take the "safer" route. The main reason I was leaning toward a nem, was the thought of a clown more likely hosting it than a coral. Im sure Ill get the nem, down the road...patience.
