Anemone help

I just bought a RBTA and the foot tore so I'm wondering whether it'll definitely die or might there be a chance of survival? It has 2 mouths at the moment so I'm assuming it's trying to split to increase it's survival chance. Any help is good!

Not really messing with it...I had it in a container but it was just getting blown around so I put it in the tank to let it grab onto my rock and it has but only loosely

You should turn your powerheads down or off so that it is easier for it to grab the rocks.

Agree'd. I accidently ripped my rbta's foot once, and it split afterwards. mine was a pretty bad rip, ripped almost half of it.. lol

i've moved many nems in the past and had a tear before... how did you tear the foot..? did you do it, or did you buy it like that...? i wouldn't have taken it home like that... it can get infected fast especially if it's in the bag with stale water...

anyways... right now just leave it alone... if it has two mouths, it might stay too mouths for a while like that... right now don't try to feed it or anything... give it a week... it could have a false mouth, and if it eats something there might not be a stomach and it will rot in there...

I bought it from somebody on here and when they tried getting it off the rock it's foot tore...I brought it right home and he told menif it dies to let him know and he'll replace it

It came from me. Somehow the nem tore. I didnt know 1/4 of it was in a tight crevice whe I was slowly pulling it off a rock. The small piece that was left in my tank is now active. I'll deliver this half to you once its fully healed in my tank. If that survives. Now you got 2 nems lol. Let me know how it does. I'll hook you up either way. :five:

wow that's awesome of you... oh, if it came from another reefer, that's even better... don't worry about anything really... should be fine... it might be splitting because the water temp dropped a bit... pretty cool...

just a quick update on the nem:

pulled a complete 180 in less than 24 hours...happy and open and loving my clown who found it when i got home from school...thanks for everyones help! :rock:

I love anenomes but i hate having them sting my polyps and close them all up for a long time. If I buy one or two and turn powerheads off for a few days, will they settle in one place each and then not move once I turn powerheads back on?
