Back in the Hobby need help!!

Sup fellas, so im back in the hobby after almost 2 years of being out of it, I am currently setting up a 50 gallon starfire cube tank with a 15 gallon sump.. I have a reef octopus skimmer 300 and a rio 1400 return pump from the sump..

My question is, what other equipments do i need to make this set up complete. Any type of help would be awesome thanks!

Lights for sure. Heater/chiller depending on your inside house temperatures.

Qt tank maybe, heater, auto top off system, timers for lights. Light for sump. Salt ro/di system or water jugs, maybe powerhead or 2. Refractometer, test kit.

Haha thanks fellas, I failed to mention that I have the necessities like heaters and pumps, I do have an ATO as well..

My other question is can I use a return pump for a skimmer pump?

I would verify that is the correct model to match your skimmer...

I would not use the same pump with return as for skimmer...

What are you planning to house in the tank...

Oh and main ingredient in tank start up imp live rock..

I do need to buy the live rock and sand I haven't done that yet, I was originally planning on somehow modding a rio 1400 to work for the skimmer.. Is that a good idea or not a good idea. Lol.

And I'm planning on keeping corals like lps and softies, eventually getting up to the sps stuff.

And btw I have two pumps one for the return and one for the skimmer it wouldn't be the same pump

skimmer pumps usually need to be made for skimmers or modded. they usually have a pin wheel which create bubbles and also draws air. I recently heard someone modded a pump and it worked beast mode . how a skimmers works is it create bubbles and debri and poop rises to the top since air rises. the poop usually sticks to the top where the bubbles burst or overflows into the collection cup. no bubbles equals no lifting of poop. I have a cskim if you want for 25$. either. use it as is or take the pump off. the pump is pretty good. or I'll trade you if you happen to have large drift wood. or bromeliads.. actually pm me if you ou are even interested. it might be gone with my set up.
