Wondering if anyone in the Riverside area, or somewhere within 20 miles has some Berghia Nudibranches I could either purchase, or preferentially borrow. My 28g nano has been up for about 9 months and just recently aiptasia have popped up everywhere. Strange thing is I've added nothing in about 5 months. Needless to say they are proliferating rapidly and if I let it go anymore I will start losing coral. My ony fear is buying some of these nudis, letting them do their job and then having a difficult time removing them or simply finding someone else who needs them that i can give them to before they die. Finally, do they target large aiptasia? they just seem so miniscule and i have some rather large brown aiptasia in my tank, like 5 inches tall and maybe larger. If anyone can speak on any of this I would be grateful. Thank you in advance.

There is a sponsor on here that breeder nudis. I believe he/she is in Laguna niguel? Might not be 20 miles but it's close with toll roads.

Yep, Andy's right. I think he's called Berghia Breeder.

Berghias eat all aiptasia regardless of size. It's why they're better than peppermint shrimp because the latter will only eat small aips. Get at least three and VERY gently release them close to some aips. Do this at night only...1 hr after lights out minimum otherwise your fish will eat them.

Cool guys, I appreciate the responses. So you think three will be fine then, that sounds low maintenance. Also, I only have a maroon clown and a tailspot blenny, do you still think they might attack them? I will see if I can contact that guy though. I really would just like to grab a couple from a local reefer but I will do what is necessary.

Maybe not but they're expensive...why risk it? And another thing is that they're nocturnal so they'll be more comfortable at night.

Ive bought nudibranches. They are really tiny. They kept getting blown away by my pumps. They would always end up in my filtration and I would have to rescue them. Not worth the money IMO. Try a few peppermint shrimp first.

Well that is somewhat comforting because I just found out how expensive the berghias are and purchased a peppermint in light of that development, so I hope it works. Thanks for the advice man.

They are worth every penny even if one survived it will slowly finish em off. I released 3 into a tank with 9 wrasses and the nudis have already eaten 4 XL aiptasia. Only been 10 days so I'm patient that they will eat the other 5-1,000 I may have.

Our chromi's ate our berghias when we tried to use them for aiptasia control.. What a waste that was.. especially after driving a few hours to pick them up!
After lights out and nothing is moving you baste them gently on the aiptasia, done. Boom

Ps: no pumps whatsoever for 10 minutes so they can latch on.

Wicked you think my mystery or melanurus will eat them? They ate the ZOA eating nudi's
I have the type of wrasses that probably would eat these guys. So the only thing I can say I they ate 1/3 of my problem already so if I have to buy 3 more it's not a problem.

Just add them around 3 hours after lights out when they are all tucked away. Remember no flow.
