I'm considering getting a crocea clam for my 2.5 gallon dwarf seahorse tank with a 10 gallon sump. Right now I have a regular 18" T8 15W bulb and I'm convinced that is not enough to provide sufficient photosynthetic growth. The light is 6" above my 2.5 where I plan to keep the crocea. The dwarfs are divided from the clam so no one will be eaten or disturbed. I'm not too enthusiastic about getting a metal halide and would rather stick to fluorescent. What Im confused about is what to look for in a bulb. Should I be looking for high watts? Or high Kelvin? Currently Im trying to find a compact fluorescent bulb to place above my 2.5 and create a light funnel so it gives direct light to the clam and doesnt blind anything else. Currently Im looking at a compact fluorescent bulb from Home Depot around 100-300 watts.
