Some news....My naso passed away last week. =[ It just wasn't eating. It barely grazed on algae sheets, had no interest in frozen or pellets, it just shied away when it was feeding time. I didn't notice any sign of Itch when I pulled him out. The powder blue however is all over the place and eating like a pig. So I've been feeding constantly to keep them all healthy. I should be picking a purple tang from Chad this weekend. I think I got a little too ambitious with the naso as they are known to be finicky.

In other news, I'm looking at skimmer upgrades. I'm really considering the Bubble King Double Cone 200. I have tax money coming and thought, what the heck? So more on that soon...

This thing skims like a beast, but it's just a little too loud for my taste.

I'm joining the Royal Exclusiv Club baby!!!

I went with the BK Double Cone 200. Hopefully, it'll arrive at the middle of next week. Then this Reef Octo goes on sale.

Mine comes with the RD Speedy 3 DC pump though which I heard is really good and less failure rates than the askoll block.

Awesome. That's a sweet setup. How much u end up paying for that thing? And where did u buy it from? From my understanding, those skimmers are pretty much the replacements for the Vertex Alpha line.

PS. If the Askoll motor goes out, u can get a new Laguna 1500 block for around $120 on eBay. How much is a replacement for the Speedy?

That's a good choice. Where did you buy it from? It's nice that Royal Exclusive has US support.

I bought it from Premium Aquatics. They have great support and a good relationship with Royal Exclusiv. Klaus actually suggested the skimmer to me after I posted a message on RC. Jeremy from Premium Aquatics suggested the 180, but I double checked with Klaus and he said both would do well on my system.

Well, some bad news. I lost my powder blue today. He was doing fine the night before, ate like a pig at feedings, but this afternoon, I found him on the sand bed being eaten by the CUC.

Some observations:
1)there were a few white spots on his body which could have been signs of ich, but it was very limited and hard to see. Even if it could have been Ich, would it have killed the fish overnight? I was feeding heavily to keep their immune system up and soaking food in garlic.
2) Noticed some weird looking poop coming from the anal fin. It kind of looked like he pooped out strands of Chaeto. The poop wasn't white.
3) My picasso clown has brown spots over it's white markings and looks "flaky." On the orange coloring, it's like white flaky spots, not dots. He stays in the sand bed away from the other three clowns. I think he's showing signs of rapid breathing.

So, I'm quite confused and trying to figure this out. I've been doing 20g water changes each week on the tank; ammonia is 0 and nitrates are undetectable according to salifert (had the last 20g water change Tuesday). Temp stays at about 77.5 degrees and pH from 8.2 to 8.4 depending on time of day.

Any feedback is highly appreciated!

Blah. Just lost my starry blenny. This is definitely velvet. I'm starting a QT tomorrow once I get medication.

This blows, but I guess it comes with the territory. Always QT no matter what!
