Well I am shopping for a glass tank. My acrylic one is ugly. So I am wonder if a 120 is better or worse than a 180. Current tank is a 125 (6'x18"x24").

I dont think its harder to maintain. It does look a lot nicer. You can do so much more with 2 feet of scaping. Honestly I think 2 feet should be the minimum.

The more water you have the easier to maintain your levels... also keep in mind the bigger(longer) the tank the more lighting you will need. Other than that I think a 120 and a 180 would be pretty similar to maintain. If you can afford and have space for it get the 180. Otherwise the 120 would be fine.

I don't know the length of the 120 but it might be too short to have tangs(?), if that's what you want. The 180 will give you more space for fish as well as rocks/corals.

I think bigger is better!! A lot more room for some bigger fish
Guess you are saying go big or go home

Yea I would like to keep the tangs I have right now. They are babies still.

I have had a 4ft, 5ft and 6ft. 4 feet i felt that i needed more. 6 feet was awesome if you have the space and money. 5 feet feels just right for me. I would do 5 feet on my next tank as well but go a lot deeper. at 6x2x2 i felt like it took larger water changes to make an effect when trying to correct a problem. I didn't like changing so much water.

just as a side note, if you get a standard 180 (6x2x2) i have a free wood stand that will be available very very soon. otherwise, it's probably gonna turn into fire wood.. >_<

If you have the space for a 180 go for it. Its more swimming room and better parameter stability. I wish i had the room for a 180. I had to get a 120 again when i switched to glass tank
