Ok this is me blowing off Steam on my soap box,
Although not really mad or upset just a thought that I guess we do it in faith and for the Hobby but not all good deeds go unpunished. I wont use names or anything to give identity to anything or anyone member or not!
Awhile back I had a mishap on my 100 gallon reef tank and lost a lot and due to housing situations and moving while waiting on a new home to be ready I didn't have the means to start the build again nor move it a few month after. So I started an offer on craigslist to trade for a smaller tank, After a few weeks I had assembled a small tank and it was up and running with my left over Animals and corals I was able to save from the bigger tank. Well I took down the post and offers to sell or trade the tank and a few days later was contacted by a person who saw my post a few weeks earlier asking if I still had the tank and that he was looking to move up from a smaller tank and wanted the big one (which I was in the process of storing till ready to build again). I told him that It was no longer up that I revoked the offer, a sad voice on the other end said thank you and that it was a bummer cause he had talked his wife into the bigger tank and got a cube Nano he had for the past 4 years ready to trade. Well I thought about it and you can always get another tank plus I wanted a drilled tank or acrylic in the future so I asked him if he was in the hobby for long term or just trying it out and what his intentions where. After a long talk I told him Even though the trade wasn't equal that I would go ahead and do it if he promised in the future when he moved up to a bigger tank or got out of the hobby that it would be done in the same fashion by giving or traded it to a serious hobbyist moving up or a reefer in need, with a promise and handshake I agreed and made the trade. feeling good I have been continuing my hobby and getting close to the ability to build again I have started looking on craigslist and forum for another tank. Recently lost my Job and although I cant afford to I love to look at the tanks for sale and forum that are up. :a18:
Well today on craigslist I noticed a post for a tank that is setup very pretty, its my old tank. with all my tank and parts I donated to him and equipment listed for sale at an outrages amount. As much as I would love to reply to that offer and give a piece of my mind I know it was done in faith and that I was taken for a ride, just so some scum scam artist can take it and make some good money on someone else's good deed for a hobby that we love. This will not stop me from good reef Karma or donating to other reefers but they will be members and active, I know to be sure that they are indeed a serious reefer with good connections and recommendations. So long story short I'm out a tank that I loved and loved the build and not able to get another to start for the new place for awhile. So the Nano will have to keep me entertained awhile longer I just wanted to vent and tell others about my story as we do for others to keep or hobby alive but not all those who are in it are in it for the right reasons. Happy Reefing to everyone and hope the new year brings great reefing to use all, till next time keep it salty!!!

That sucks man! There's always gonna be douchebags out there that only think of themselves and those people will eventually get what's coming to them. Keep your head up! Good reef Karma to you!

A good rule of thumb is if you give something away or loan money, have no expectations on what happens after. People will always let you down. Hopefully the point of helping someone with a tank set up or whatever is the good feeling you get by doing something nice for someone. Whatever happens to it after that we have no control over and does not diminish the original good deed...

Be happy in the idea that you helped a person out. Some people take advantage of situations. You Helped someone out of the kindness of your heart. Have a good day

you did a good thing, so find happiness in the giving, never expect thanks, never look back

or else next time make maximum $ with a sale and feel no guilt

but not something confused in between

it was that 125, when the sump mud gassed cause the window light early am and most the day kept it to active and warm (missed that detail originally before starting it up) so a gas bubble let go and blew the refuge mud to my main tank killing the O2 levels and light taking out majority of live stock and a few corals. was able to setup my original Nano clean the main stuff up and sift clean the sand to set it up and save my maroon clown and goby, along with corals, mostly the main colonies lost a few. I still have the refuge and pump so I worked out the kinks and problems so one day when I get a larger tank again this issue wont happen again. Just hoped to get a larger tank again soon so I could start the build, looking for a project tank to clean up and repair the stand or whatever and get everythihg plumbed and controls and wiring done in harnesses and protected so when I move here in a few months I could move it in and get it cycling during the move so it was in and going then populate after cycle and stable. but Looks like it will be a later date (Hopefully not to long) before Ill have a larger tank again I would like to find a 120-280 this time maybe a 300.

that does suck... but there are a ton of people out there like that...

this happened years ago on here... this member sold his tank on craigslist... this other member picked it up for dirt cheap... DIRT CHEAP!!!... then two days later, the guy separated everything and put every single item for sale on the forum... he even made a separate thread for every item... it was so annoying... he flooded the marketplace with his annoying greedy post... he was selling zoas, one post per morph of zoanthid... it was crazy... anyways... the guy made a ton of money parting it out... but the original owner was bummed a bit, but never said anything... i would've been foaming in the mouth.. he said that he wanted that huge tank for his office... LOL...
