Just took the Cal reactor off line and need to know how much and how often to dose with a reactor. I have the new aqua medic 4 head doser and tropic Marin balling supplements.

It all depends on what types of corals you have, and how big they are. If I were you I'd test first, then wait a few days to a week and test again. Now you pretty much have an idea of how much your tank is consuming. HTH!!!

You can start with say 10mls per... but youll need to test each day for a week or two and figure out the proper doses to keep your alk and cal where you want it. Im at about 50mls each with ESV

I'm still dialing mine in as well, BeanMachine can I ask how many times a day you dose that? I originally had set for 3times a day but switched it to 6times for less more frequent dosing.

I run bubble magus doser. 6 times a day at a total of 110 ml of BRS two part per day. I have about 130 total water volume. Mixed reef. The BRS is not as concentrated than ESV. Not sure how it compares to tropics marine.

Ack! 10 mls per dose wasnt enough to keep my alk up. Dropped to 5 and RTN has begun...I noticed the doser doesn't keep the lines filled all the time. Is that normal?

there may be something wrong with the doser if the lines are not filled completely. shouldnt have air gaps

Fluid should always be in the lines. If there is air, well you weren't dosing anything at times. My GHL has a manual button, so if there is air in the lines, you just hold the button and let the fluid go into a separate container until the air gaps are gone. I'm not sure how yours works though.

Were you testing every day? Or did you wait?

I took off the cal reactor on Sat and switched to the doser. Tested Sunday night and I was fine. Then I tested Monday night and I was way low. I doubled the amount of mls being delivered and I will test when I get home. There is a bit of excessive tubing because my tank switch is coming up this weekend and, the placement now isn't going to be its final spot.

I'm pretty sure everything is going to brown out when I switch tanks anyways. I was just very surprised how fast my ALK tanked.
