Yes those are freshwater ghost shrimps. They have been drip acclimating for over 3 hours and I have salinity up to 1.015. I know it can be done and most say to raise salinity up by .002 per day, but im confident they will make it. All still alive. Have maybe another 2 - 3 hours of dripping to go. If all works well they will be fruitful and multiply and my mandarin can eat all the baby shrimps to his hearts content. Or this could just be epic failure and my orange spotted rabbitfish will be eating good tonight lol. Either way cant beat $3.50 for 10 shrimps.

What a rip lol...my LFS sells 10 for $1! Anyways cardina and neocardina shrimp species will only live maybe a month in salt water and ghost shrimp are really hard to get to breed in an enclosed system...their eggs are extremely sensitive to water qualiy....good luck though!

Nah I kinda want the shrimps to be a bit bigger so they are not easily eaten by the fish, but I want them to lay babies so my mandarin and wrasse have food. I know, I know thats why we have copepods, but I wanted to try this for the heck of it since I had a freshwater set up and these little buggers were making babies 24/7.

There's no such thing as true marine ghost shrimp unless ur talking about the huge ones they sell at bait shops....if they're cardina or neocardina then they'll die eventually....I agree with puff...brine or mysis...but mysis are cannibalistic and their population will dwindle down unless they have a big space...just sayin'

Yes and salinity is now at 1.020. They respond well as they run immediately when I shine the light on them. My lights go out at 12 so hopefully acclimation will finish by then and I can introduce them in the darkness. Drinking beer to pass the time.

Okay heres the update. All shrimps are in the DT now. Unfortunately one didnt make it as I found it dead under the mini power head so I am assuming it got stuck and died. Other than that they are all in and slowly walking about in the tank. Hopefully they wont pull a home rin the morning and decide to roam with lights on or else they will be more than likely breakfast lol. Good night. I am drunk and I am going to bed!

Yes I saw a few get chased away by my chromis when the actinics came on. Since its a big tank and I only threw in 9 they all seem to hide in the rock work. If I can find a place that sells them dirt cheap I may attempt a large number acclimaation project this week. With the larger numbers it will be easier to determine if they are thriving or dying off.
