This should probably be in the beginner section, so if it is too simple, I apologize. I have small elegance coral. A couple of the polyps from one section aren't opening anymore. I read in several places that there is a disease that know one seems to know the cause of that is causing these corals to die. I got the tank a little over one month ago and the elegance coral was included. It looked fine for a couple of weeks and the started to not fully extend the tentacles. One day, I found a purple substance on the oral disc (very small). I though it was a tiny purple mushroom (which is placed right next to the elegance coral). I took it off, but it now doesn't hardly open at all. I was wondering if I should frag that section to try to save the other ones. If so, should I just "prune" it right at the base of that section?
Everything else in the tank is doing well including some other sps corals. My parameters are good except the pH is a little low (7.9-8.2). I do about a 25% water change every week.
I tried to post a picture, but the gallery isn't coming up for some reason. If I can figure out why, I'll edit this with a photo later.
Thanks.
