Here goes:

Phosphate level is way to high. 5.0ppm

Sat. I just did my second 40% WC within 48hrs tryin to get rid of a cyano prob.
So doing another will not help. Problem is deeper.

I have been thinking that my 4part back filter areas need to be shop-vac'd out.
I was in there the other day putting a chemipure bag by my pump_and a
cr@P load of nasty gunk is sitting on the bottom and all over the LR and ruble back there.
The last time I scaped i noticed bottom pieces of the rock would cloud out my water with nastyness too.

Is there anything i can do or dose to get the level down?

I dont want to replace my LR or LS. Its been in my tank for at least 4years.
Is there a good way to clean everything off?

This is probably one of the major culprits in my unbalanced params.
I can never seem to balance my dkh or calcium. Its this d@mn Phos level.

40% water change but I'd take a turkey Baster and blow all your rocks clean get all detritus out. Clean the gunk in the filter. I scrub and suck it out once a week. You will be fine. You can look into vodka dosing. Worked wonders for me

Try a different test kit. At 5.0 ppm i would think everything would be dead.

If there's buildup in the sump you should add a powerhead down there; or debris/detritus will recollect after you clean it out. It's failing by design, not overfeeding/ bad husbandry.

Yes, the slower the better.

I think 1 cup per 100 gallons is what they say but I would start with half or a quarter of that.

What is GFO?

my tank is a 12g nano type
Granular Ferric Oxide

Its a media that absorbs phosphates. For your tank being so small might not be an option as the reactors (tube and pump that the media tumbles in) are pretty good size. I would verify your phosphates first, maybe try the Phosphate E but go slow. You don't want to shock anything.

Phos-E requires a skimmer, too, though. It's a binder so it needs to be removed.

I'd just do water changes on a system that small; easier overall upkeep..

I think he means phos levels, which should ideally be <0.03
Sorry to jack into your thread, but I have similar problem, but my phos it's not that high..
That's what I meant to ask, but the other one good to know too, my hanna is reading. 0.43 should I run a phosphate aka GFO reactor..?? I have a 50g with a 20g sump.
Thanks and sorry again.

I suggest the 40% WC..and might want to consider using a reactor to tumble media. 1ml per gallon at first... then work up to 2ml per gal. 50 gal tank is manageable if you can keep up with semi-large WC's on a monthly basis. The GFO will help keep the PO4 low, where it needs to be and more stable.
