So going through this thread, isn't he simply replacing the power supply with the exact same cheap part? It stands to reason that the replacement will also fail in the same fashion?

I found this thread: Another attempt at fixing Apex EB832 | REEF2REEF Saltwater and Reef Aquarium Forum

He actually goes through and replaces the capacitors (the actual parts that failed) on the power supply. I think this would be a more robust, long term solution.
Hey man you asked for the write up. See how easy it was for you to Google it your self. I my self don’t buy those cheap buck converters that the guy uses. But it’s the same process. I just took the the specs of the buck converter and searched for better quality with high reviews. That’s why the buck converters I use cost $11 each. All I can say is I’ve fixed 8 EB832 and not one has failed yet, and mine are already 2 years old after being fixed.

Appreciate your time explaining the process! The EB832 is currently just a brick sitting there--I'll hit you up if I ever swing by your area (I'm in Tustin). I'm guessing with shipping costs the way they are, the cost to ship is going to be prohibitive.

hey Eric, I'm having power issue with my H380 fuge light. The light doesn't turn on and every time I plug it in it short the power supply. I was able to confirm that there's no issue with the power supply using a voltage meter and testing it with a different working Kessil power supply. Have you came across this issue?

The light is fairly new with less than 8 months of usage.

I’ve fixed two H380 that had issues with fan power supply. But in those cases the light turned on for a few minutes then shutoff from over heating. I look at it if you like. Shoot me a pm if you want to ship it to me or maybe meet up with me near knots.

I have a few ballasts lying around if you want me to see if I can get it working for you I can do that but if your wanting me to buy of you fix and flip it that’s not my style. I have so many side projects I have going on I can’t even keep things organized.

Pm sent a few days ago. I’m not sure if you saw it.
