I have a 75g (48 x18x 20) that I would like to be a mixed reef. I am currently running 2 Tunze 6095...one in each corner. It does not appear to be nearly enough flow. I have a constant build up of detritus in the rocks and there are several dead spots.

I am not running them through a tunze controller. Would that get me higher flow?

Or, are they just not enough for my tank. I have been thinking about the gyre 150 but I am reading mixed reviews. I have some Christmas money to spend and wanted to get this fixed.

TIA

Since you already have the 6095s... I would get the controller and a 6105.

Thx, Cody. Will the controller allow me to increase the overall flow of the 6095s as well?
Not sure. Its been a while since Ive used the tunzes. I think its based on the voltage to the pump on your power supply. Not sure it will go any higher.

Steve,
What is the setting you run now on those 6095? Did you run max or with high voltage fuge? Look like you run them without controller.
I would get the controller for it cause controller give you ability create pulse wave which is stronger than constant flow.
If you can get enough. Little mod of pump will increase some flow

i think what you need is a variable flow so a controller will help.. the 6095 are rated at 2500 gallons each that should be plenty of flow for a mixed reef. i think your problem with dead spots is more from the placement of the pumps and rock.....if you had a controller you could ramp up and down the flow causing the water to move more randomly, for me at least that cures most dead spots...

+1

I have a Tunze controller. If you're interested, pm me

Cheapest way is to use your 6095s to create a constant gyrus, a circular current racetrack with 5000 gph flow, no controller needed. Just put one on the side top front, the other opposite side top back. Then get a jaebo wp40 and use it as a wavemaker on the long axis. That will keep your detritus suspended for the 6095s to bring to the overflow.

The way you have them setup now they are cancelling each others flow in the middle. Blow some bubbles into the pump intakes and see the flow pattern for your self.

Thanks for the help guys.

Daniel, i think this is what I am asking. I did not realize there were settings for these pumps. I have them plugged into my Apex and running at a constant speed. I found an older model Tunze controller today, the 7094. I am going to see if hooking that up helps. It seems like these two pumps should be more than enough flow...I will try changing the position as suggested by ray ray.

I will try to download a manual for the controller, mess with it a bit and report back if it helps.

If that doesn't help, I will send some PMs to watchguy and bean for a controller and an extra pump.

Like ray ray suggest, with controller You can try to aim the tunze pumps that the flow will collide around 30% in order to creat some vortex.
