Has anyone used the water from Kerckhoff Marine lab in Corona Del Mar. When are they open and is there a limit on gallons? Do they filter etc. Is the water the same quality as Scripts or UCSB?

Never go after it rains. I would go a good week after a rain or more. Scripps is superior IME. But no way is scripps cost effective if you go from LOs Angeles if you include your time and gas.

Stuffs 350-325 calcium. 1100 magnesium and about 7.0 alk. I would not use it until it stops raining for a bit. BeanMachine knows the times and such.

Go early there's an aquarium maintenance guy who hogs the water. The pump is hella slow.

I went this morning and there was a log of people who have used it for the day.
One person for 200 gallon and one for 100 gallons and me for 10 gallons. Obviously used more by maintenance folks than hobbyist. Since I have never used this water before does anyone know of the safety or need to filter or modify the water in any way prior to using it in the tank. I have always mixed my own water with salt and have some concerns about contaminants, both biological and chemical. Is this a rational concern or a theoretical concern.

They were doing studies on sea urchins in the facility last time I was there... if they use it for those animals should be an indication it is safe from contaminants and OK for us to use. Like Estaban said don't go after the rain due to run off. Just like your not supposed to swim in certain areas. And you'll need to dose to match your parameters.
