What is the best frozen cube food for fishes. I have heard that the mysya and brine shrimp don't have a lot of vitamins and nutrients for fishes. I am currently using prime reef and formula 1 from ocean nutrition. Is this good for my fishes or are there better frozen food out there?

All frozen food packages are the same, and they carry water more than nutrients. The best frozen food for fish is the home made one if you want to make some for your fish. It has more nutrients for them, and it lasts you for the long time.
In the other hand, you can feed your fish with pellets also to balance their diets.
Hope this helps.

Oh thank you I wan going to try pellets and see how that works out. I just want my fishes to be healthy and live as long as they can . I'm going to look at videos on how to make my own cubes thanks for the advice.

I buy the large packs of pe mysis. I think it's the most food for your buck and i feed that the most. Auto feeder pellets twice a day. Then vary it up with other foods like brine, rods frozen, black worms occasionally, nori, angel cube food.

I was looking online and some people use the seafood mix bag from the grocery store and then add seaweed and vitamins with garlic and put it in the blender. Once that is done they freEze it. Has anybody tried that?

Here's the link to my fish food thread. If you want to take a shot at making your own it's fairly simple just a little bit of time /effort and smelly kitchen and hands for a bit lol. http://www.socalireefs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72952
Thing you'll need is a food processor (any size will do but the bigger the better), egg crate from your lfs( use white its a bit more flexible the black one breaks very easily) , and those baking trays from the 99 cent store. I buy my sea food at the 99 ranch market, rinse in rodi, process, then spread out on a sheet of egg crate over a baking pan to hold it together while it freezes. Once frozen just pop the cubes out into a zip lock bag and good to go. If you just care to buy some I have maybe half an egg crate or so left from my last batch, I just have to pop em out... like 5 bucks worth so you can try em. If you want to buy more I will be making more sometime next week. Only thing is next batch I won't include cuttlefish squid or octopus as it adds sooo much more work and takes more time because it's hard to process, then your stuck removing all the pieces you feel are too large for most fish to eat as your spreading over the egg crate.

You can do that just that the mix in those bags isn't always what you want in it. A blender would probably work but will most likely leave huge chunks unless you blend with water but will probably be messy. You can get a 30 to 50 dollar processor that will do a solid job without water and every cube will be packed with straight up food nothing else. If you decide to make some and have questions just hmu

Thank you so much I really appreciate it I will try and make my own tommorow. I don't need to add any fatty drops or any vitamins?
It's all personal preference, maybe vitamin c selcom or garlic... I've made it with all of the above before and no problem yvw

I prefer blister packs of Mysis , Cyclops, and Roe. Every other day some Formula 2 flakes and NLS Pellets.

I've got nothing against home made fish food, but its messy in my experience.
