They come from one island in the Indian Ocean... and they are a deeper water fish that are relatively hard to find and catch.

Whether or not you think it worth the price, I have seen them selling for a lot more than $1400.

(Assuming these are wild caught and someone didn't suddenly figure out how to breed them en mass).

These are indeed wild caught, and $1400 is a really good price for these insanely beautiful creatures. Usually from a vendor, the asking price is $1800+.
