I got a Par 38 bulb from costco but it seemed to focused of a light for a fuge. If I had to light a fuge again, I'd use a BR38 bulb. Broader spread of lights and not as focused as the PAR bulbs.

PAR bulbs are more focused and BR bulbs have a wider light spread. If your PAR bulb is a 12" above the fuge then it will be great but mine was only 4" - 6" above and it burned a lot of my chaeto on top

Why dont you mount the bulb with a socket. Or you can run some wires thru a 3/4 loc line with a socket then yoy be able to adjust as you like. I use the leds from HD BR38 n have tried the par38 from lowes too. Just make sure to get the daylight spectrum.
What if you took the reflector off of those HD clamp fixtures and then just hung the light from the bottom of your stand with an eye hook? That's how I had mind setup.
