Gunk in the calcium reactor

I run a dual chamber calcium reactor and i am getting a grayish powder accumulating in the media. It's only in the primary chamber and there is lots of flow. Any idea what it may be

Sounds like your running too low of a pH. Too low, and there media can turn to mush. A low pH is caused by excess CO2.

Exactly possible that your melting the media to quick could be also where you have the feed pump maybe its picking up detritus? What ph are you running? And what media
