Ok, I may be the last one. Running an Giesman 6’ spectra with galaxy multiselect HQI ballasts. Sorry, I just love the way they look and and I love the stupid simple of on and off. I have enough radium lamps that I won’t need to buy any before california banns the use of electricity for anything other than charging battery cars.

Here’s my question. I am going on a trip for about a week with our oldest son, he’s the most reliable at filling the ATO. I’m considering shutting off the halides for a week but leaving the supplemental reef-brights running for the duration of the trip to reduce evaporation. I have mostly SPS and I do have a clam. Am i safe?

Personally I'd cut the photoperiod in half and increase the size of the reservoir. I have a large ATO reservoir you can borrow if you want it.

My ato is all automated by my apex. I don’t touch a thing. I have a 55g barrel with a float switch near the top and bottom. When the float switch near the bottom opens it tells apex to turn on the booster pump. Then the booster pump turns off when the float switch near the top closes.

I’d be upsizing the res if possible. Brute with casters gravity fed. I’m 400w x 2 on about 200g and my 25g res lasts close to a week depending on temps.

I’d be worried about lack of primary light and the difference in consumption that would create in a stocked tank over a week.

I would find a way to increase your res and keep the lights on their normal schedule. If you need someone to check on the tank, let me know?

I think you will be fine. The sun does not come out for a week on the reefs on occasions. I would not go with a larget topoff container as you have had problems with it adding to much in the past. Just have your wife check and fill it once. Of course you know people that will check on your tank if needed, including me.
