Hey all,

So does anybody else utilize those awsome gastropods of the genus Haliotus? AKA Abalone... I have always used abalone just because I think they are cool. I'm a afficionado if you will. In the course of diving off the coast of our beautiful state I have collected shells from almost every native abalone species...with the exceptions of the black and pinto. I've even gone abalone diving up north and have a few 10" shells all polished and hanging up on the wall...they were DELICIOUS!

I've always noticed that aside from being too efficient at what they do, abalone are clumsy...for lack of a better word. Like once they get over about 2-3" shell length they start knocking things over and creating havoc. I once had my 55 as a cold water rocky reef with two 10" red abs (Haliotus rufescens). It was cool back when I lived in Humboldt County about half a mile from the ocean and I could go harvest Bull Kelp for those beefcakes. Anyway does anybody have anything to share on the subject?
