Heater Shocking My Tank...Again

Hey Gang,

I have a Marineland Stealth 150w heater in my sump that is charging my tank. I removed it but this is the second Marineland Stealth I have had do this to me. The last one I returned to PTF and Steve switched me out for a new one as they have a lifetime warranty. What is the normal life you guys are getting out of your heaters? The last two have lasted me about a year to a year and a half each. Does Marineland Stealth heaters suck or is this normal?

Recently, I had one crap out on me aswell, All i did was purchase another one, and shipped the broken one back for $7 dollars directly to marineland. they sent me newer version of the stealth heaters, the actual cylinder is bigger and the adjust knob is now also an indicator light. Took them about a week and half.

May be it's NOT the heater. It's something else.

New heater doesn't shock you. Check the pump.....or any other electrical current in your sump.

had a couple stealths "blow up"... using JBJ TruTemp with controller think they go up to 1000w. I like them keeps temp accurate.

I bought 2 of these used and they've been really good to me. Temp has been stable

I am using Aqua Euro heaters. I like these heaters because the controller and the temp probe are separated from the heating element. The controller has two lights. One light tells you that the unit is powered (plugged in) and another light telling you when it is actually heating the water.

Of course, I run these with a Ranco just to be safe. Seaside has them for a good price.

I have had problems with Ebo Jager to. I had to return 2 of them then it was ok.

I have better luck with the heaters that are sealed and then controller are not intergraded in to the heater element, but after 2 years all of then more then likely needs to be changed.

I have also had bad luck with the marineland heaters in the past. They wouldnt turn off.

i use and recommend the jager heaters and use 2 on systems over 200gals.
you can also calibrate them.the button on top locks the calibration
