Got a sweet Helfrichi Fire Fish from So Cal today. As soon as it was introduced into the tank, Ms. Nasty(My Purple Tang) went after it. Instead of diving straight into the rockwork, it decided to try to evade her out in the open, bad move. Looks like she got a hold of its dorsal fin because when I checked on it about an hour later, it was missing.

Will it grow back or is it doomed? Thanks, Dave

I don't think it will grow back. Ive had fins and stuff bitten off fish and they never grew back. But they can live without them. Is the fish eating? Bring it by and ill house it for you temporarily if you want

it looks weird without the fin, but otherwise I think it will be fine. Just got to get off my but and get that specimen container I was supposed to get already...

I had fish grow the fins back after being picked on. I guess it depends on the fish and how bad the damage was.

When I got my Yellow Tang it had a medium sized piece out of his top fin and it grew back in about 3 weeks.

nemo had a gimp fin and he lived just fine, kinda just swam in circles though... maybe thats why his dad couldnt find him...

Yeah my yellow watchman had no most of its top fin ripped off and it grew back better then before haha. GL!
