So at my office tank I have a bunch of tiny feather dusters poping up all over my sand bed and even some on the rocks. Is there anything I can put in that will eat them or kill them that is reef safe? I have tried to manually remove them but they keep coming back.

I manually removed about 30 of them 2 weeks ago. I have about 20 of them again. Its a small tank, only 15g or so. I just wasnt sure if by removing them with the tweezers I might be breaking them up causing them to spread around more.

If you raise your alk it will kill them. They are filter feeders and that is a benefit.
Thanks I will read up on this too.

yeah im sure they are feather dusters not hydroids. I think this tank is too small for a CBB though. I think ill just manually remove them again and see what happens. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

I have a zillion of them, yes I counted, a zillion throughout the bottom of my 400g display. I have the wrasses, angels, and peppermint shrimp and nobody touches them. I love that I have a solid field of them. This is mother nature giving you biological filtration. Especially in a 15g tank, the more biological filtration you have the better. Mine stick to the bottom of the tank, and my tank is bare bottom.

Arrow crabs work wonders. Our old tank in Seattle had so many of them until we did a little research and found out that arrow crabs munch on them like crazy. You'll see a difference within a month or so and you don't have to mess with the chemistry of the tank.
