Hey Gang!

So I was thinking this would be an interesting pole to take as there are many schools of thought on the subject. How often do you do a water change? It would also be nice to see how much water, what kind of filtration/equipment you are running, what kind of livestock and coral you have in the system, feeding habits, salt mixes or maybe Catalina water and the chemicals you are adding while doing the water changes and so on. I hope everyone joins in!

I have a 75G with a 20G sump. I do 15G/week, and the only additives are purple up weekly (right after the WC) and CoralVite.
see my sig for the rest of the equipment

This is a new product. You should talk to Jon Warner about it. Im sure he would like to get some feedback. PM me if you want to get in touch with him.

I feed my tank pretty heavily... keeps all the inhabitants happy, so my nitrates will climb if I don't do 15/week...

And let me tell you... BON has a super sick tank! When you wanna trade? I am going to cut your frag and mount it tomorrow. I would give it a week, so maybe next week?

On that note, I have a 70g with a 20g sump and I change 10 to 20g every week as well. That way I don't have to worry about params as much and I know that my corals are getting what they need. Although for some reason I just noticed my cal and mag are off the charts.

make my own, test it, get the levels where I need them, then add it to my display tank after 24hrs.

This poll is a bit strange because water changes depend largely on tank sizes and bio load of each tank. Also if the tank is being dosed or if the water if being cleaned well via skimmer and other filtration. JM2C

I havent change my water since Nov in my 33g. I got lazy and tried doing an experiment.. Everything looks healthy and I didn't even see any changes to my sps. I check my salinity every week. I dose vit c and amino everyday. I also dose calcium, mag and alk once a week.

To add to what I have under the hood. My tank has a Warner Marine AS 150 w Refugium I just started. I plan to run BRS ROX carbon today. I have a 3in naso tang, starry blenny, 2in flame hawk, 3 in diamond goby (crackhead), 2 lrg peppermint shrimp, 1 lrg cleaner shrimp and a dragnet. I feed moderately and do 5 gallons water changes weekly. I also setup a dosing pump for alk and CA. I am trying this water change schedule for about a month. Lmk if u think I need to do more than 5 gallons lper week. Thanks guys.
