I do not think it is wise for a company to bring dealer issues up on a forum! I would think if IgotCorals broke the MAP policy then Seaside has the option to cut them off. With that said why would this take away warranty for product they already bought? Unless the said skimmers have not been paid for(and why would this affect warranty)? I also think that many do not understand what a Map policy means and what they can legally enforce. A Minimum Advertised Price policy is saying that you cannot advertise a product for less than a set price. With that said if IGotCorals wants to sell a $500 skimmer for $1 this would not go against MAP unless he advertises it. I understand MAP pricing is put into place to protect margins for all dealers and there are many in the Aquarium industry who have strict policy. With this said price fixing is illegal and the Map policy does not allow a company to set a price, just a advertised price.
As far as quality of Seaside skimmers in my opinion they work very well and have what I consider a quality Sicce pump. I had two of the CS-2(new CS-7 same skimmer) skimmers on grow out tanks and they always worked very well for me and never had start up issues like other skimmers I have tried. I sold one and the other I keep as a spare for my 90 and Phil is borrowing now because his SWC Atman pump went out. Now SWC skimmer for sure is a POS! I think Toms skimmers are great affordable skimmers.
I do find it funny that Tom is enforcing a MAP policy on IGotCorals as if I remember back not too long ago Tom was the hook up for Vortech and Apex and cash was King in the same location. Obviously this sounds personal, and personal should be kept off a public board or opinions will fly!
We all like to get hooked up and when you do get the hook up it is best to keep it between the store and yourself, mentioning a lower than MAP price or saying Brian hooked me up on a Seaside Skimmer can get people starting pointless threads!
Sorry for my rant, I wasted my time reading it so I decided to waste some time writing about it.
Jolly thread!
