I saw a really unique coral at a local store (to remain nameless). Literally on the opposite side of the next frag over was a 1/4"+ aipstasia. I didnt buy the coral I liked. Ive dealt with aipstatia before and because I only have a 40 gallon tank, I spent $100 on nudibranches. Is seeing aipstastia in a common frag tank a deal breaker for you? I didnt see any on the frag I liked, but dint want to risk it. Thanks in advance.

May be weird but for me depends on the size. My peppermint has demolished any aps that sneak into the tank but it hasn't came across a large one yet.

Yeah I really don't get why everyone freaks out over aipstasia anemones. In even a tank overgrown peppermint shrimps make short work of them. Plus they are 7$ each locally in my area.

Aiptasia doesnt really bother me, just take it off. I had an outbreak because they didnt really bother me but i decided to get a peppermint for $4 and it cleared my whole tank in a couple of days.

It would be pretty difficult for LFS to eliminate all aptasia since aptasia are found everywhere on fresh liverock and coral. Only way I think is if the store was 100% homegrown aquacultured.

Aiptasia has never really been difficult for me either. Kalk paste if it's just a couple, peps if it's a problem. Plus peps are fun to watch.

I think getting a few is unavoidable as the smallest one can get by you. I've had luck with Peppermint Shrimp as well, but I swear they will eat dying zoas also those little effers.

But I would buy that frag that I liked if I didn't see any on it. I'd probably think twice about buying a frag with one on it though... or cut it off with part of the plug before I put it in my tank.

Not really ........but i do have a peppermint shrimp in my tank at ll times. Btw peppermints will eat soft coral dying or not if they don't have aptasia to eat.

So what about the people that don't have peppermint shrimp? I had an outbreak and probably had like 30. 2 weeks ago I bought a peppermint shrimp and now I visibly can only see 3.

I don't care about aips no mo!

Def not a dealbreaker. I use to need them when for my CBB when i went on vacay. Many ways to kill them off in the DT. When youre down to a few just kalk the heck out of them.
