so i was wondering how to make my colors pop a little more. and while i was at corla gazers, rukis gave me the idea of adding some more Blue lights. i was looking at the LED evoltion set up he was after and i decided to try and match the ratio. i went to pep boys and bought a couple LED strips for 20 bucks. since stock JBJ LED nano cubes some with 25 White and 6 blue. i decided to go to work. after a ridiculous amount of screws in the hood, i got the thing disassembled. i de-soldered a couple rows of the White. leaving me with only 15 whites, i cut the LED strips so that i had 12 per strip, and i soldered those lines powering the old whites to the new Blue LED strips. took the self adhesive strip off and bam, half hour later connected everything back up and everything works like a charm.

look like they are a bit close to the other LED's... i wouldn't want them to get over heated and die out...

but i don't understand why you took out some of the white LED's... i would've left them on...

well when i was looking at some of the other LED set ups, i saw that a lot of them were 2:1 ratio, so i went for the same thing, when i turned them on, the tank still was very lit up, it was pretty bright with all 25 of them for a 28 gallon set up, and the LED strips are pretty well insulated. only time will tell. for right now, im pumped of the way it looks.

yeah because those blue LED strips probably dont have much use maybe to give you more blue to your eyes. those original LEDs that you desoldered out are actually 3 watt LED. they are very high powered LEDs so that corals can actually get their light. if you want a more blue look i would put in 3 watt royal blue, or 3 watt blue LEDs

yeah, if you desoldiered they, you can get some different colors on ebay for a pretty good price... or rapidled or wherev'skeez... add some reds in there for more pop... and there's some new cree's that are 50/50 red/blue, white/blue/ blue/blue/ red/white... pretty cool...
