It really depends on the concentration...although without knowing that I'd say it's definitely not good. You might want to do a water change to dilute the extra alk dumped in. The Ca concentration I wouldn't worry about but Alk seems to affect my coral moreso than Ca or Mg.

If your pH <8.6 you prob dont need to do anything.

Below that pH it could not have raised your alk or ca too high.

I beg to differ. I was adding 1 tbsp per gallon to my ato. After about 3 weeks with my ph at 8.2 my alk had climbed from 8.2 to 10.5.
Of course it'll depend on how much kalk he added to gallon.. if it dumped in that fast it could spike the alk concentration. Again it all depends on how much kalk he mixed in.

I'm going with master rayray on this one. All depending on ratio of amount dumped to total tank volume. It was only a gallon and given his tank volume and the current weather, it may have been the amount of evaporation and top off for the day anyway. Unless he's also dosing other stuff like two part or was mixing the kalkwasser with vinegar, then pH reading showing a no major spike then I think he'll be ok. Of course, also checking alk, salinity, pH and water change etc. wouldn't hurt.

If it was a major disaster, then we'd be reading a "tank crash" thread right now. hahaha! sorry man...shouldn't joke like that. Good luck!

You could be right. But if the alk went that high pH would probably be 12+. Your situation is odd as alk that high would have a 8.4+ stable pH. & theres a big difference between acute kalk overdose vs chronic high alk. Remember kalkwasser is a balanced additive. Suddent KALK dump would crash a tank, the next most common problem is the reefer over reacts & dumps in vinegar then the pH is 7. I bet he will test & we'll find out.
