I have an aquatic life 48” 4x 54 watt bulb T-5 setup, still works fine. I’m thinking of switching to LED both for the reduced annual cost of bulbs and reduction in wattage. As a result, the new setup from Kessil caught my eye. I have a 100gl setup with 24” depth and 48” width. The specs for one of these units seem to align provided it’s not a heavily sps dominant tank (if sps, recommends a more concentrated coverage). Has anyone seen this unit in use or heard anything positive about it? OR was anyone familiar with its predecessor, the AP700? Does it make sense to stick with T-5 (if it’s not broke, don’t fix it)?

My tank is predominantly LPS, softies, z&p’s mixed reef with live rock and sand

Do you think it can still output enough PAR to cover a 48” width and grow SPS with just one light? It wouldn’t be economical for me to get two of these on my 100g but in researching and watching reviews, BRS for instance analyzes the setting at like 20-50% intensity on a tank with the same dimensions and the output is good. So I’m wondering if one, centrally positioned and a hung from a higher height will do the trick at a higher intensity than they tested.

You will probably need 2 if you want to have sps. Or you can go with the kessil and a t5 hybrid fixture.
