Has anybody had success with Mandarin Goby in a nano? I seen in nano reef they have people keep them for years and counting. Just wanted to ask anybody here if they have success and share their experience. Any thoughts?

IMO if you can find one that eat frozen food, cause nano tank doesn't have enough pod for them.

You could have it. it will be the most expensive fish you have you would need to make pods or buy thats the only way to keep it live

You gotta feed heavy + have adequate supply of pods. To have a mandarin eating readily is pretty hard.

Some guy did some calculation that was like: "A healthy mandarin should eat once every 3 seconds. they are awake 12 hours (argument sake) so: 20x a minute, 1200 an hour, 14,400 a day.

LOL. Maybe it's a little exaggerated .... or not..

I wouldn't but then again i bought a ruby dragonet and its starting to eat frozen. The key is not having aggressive fish so they can eat peaceful.

Supposedly the one I am getting eat pellets but we will see if it does once in my tank. Also feed it capelin roe or similar high protein eggs.

I am planing on catching BBS daily to feed and using a device I read to feed continuously all day. Also feed it capelin roe or similar high protein eggs.

he will be the only fish maybe some clownfish or another mandarin if I see I can continuously keep one healthy and plumped. But most likely get a partner or have him solo in the tank.

My mandy eats mysis, he's a total pig for it and swims up to the feeding tube now and grabs the food out of the water column. I turn the pumps off and feed the other fish first so he has less competition. That said, he also eats pods all day. Maybe if you hook up a 20g chaeto fuge to the nano it won't cost as much. :D

Good luck... I added about 2-3 cups/btls/bags of pods a month it didn't work out for me. I'm adding an HOB refugium to breed pods if it's successful I'll try again.

Yes I will have a refugium just in case it doesn't take the BBS or eggs but I hear they are really successful

My mandarin will be all lonely until I can train it into frozen/pellets or nice and fat eating BBS or Roe eggs
