Ordered a bunch of stuff from Marine Depot on Thursday for will call. I was going to go and pick up the stuff on my way home from work since I worked near the warehouse. I called before leaving work to be sure my order was ready and they told me that the credit card didn't work. I reread the CC number and it went through, and because of all this they said that I'd have to pick up the next day. What I don't understand is why they didn't call me and let me know that they had a problem...

So anyways I said whatever. So today I went to pick up my stuff and they told me that my order wasn't even picked yet. Fifteen minutes later, they bring my stuff out leave everything on the couch for me to put in my car myself, and left. Their prices aren't that great, their service isn't very well, so I'm not sure if I will do business again with them.

Id say over all when i have gone there its been Grade A. I have worked in a warehouse that ships from the net and walk ins before. Its not easy some times to help walk ins they always seam to come right as ups or usps is right down the street hahah. could of just been bad timing :(

Marine Depot is not setup as a traditional retail outlet. The "Will Call" window exists for no other reason than a convenience to us who live locally in Southern California and wish to pick up our items direct instead of paying for shipping.

In other words, the will call window is a convenience counter, not a customer service window. I can surely see where people can get confused easily, however if you knew more about their business model, you'd understand the situation better (not to say that you should, I'm only trying to explain away the discrepancy).

I agree with the above, Marine Depot's shipping efficiency is absolutely incredible...they've fine-tuned it down to a science. I've had product sitting on my doorstep in less than 24 hours on multiple occasions (with regular ground shipping).

You gotta love those UPS trucks:
The unmistakable sound of their squeally Brakes and Suspension stopping in front of your house conjures up emotions equivalent to that of the Ice Cream Man coming down the street. :elefant:

Just have to throw in my two cents as well. Nothing but exceptional service from MD. I will continue buying stuff from them based almost solely on their service. Adn in my opinion, their prices on many items is extremely good.

I always have positive with them.
I like to go to Tom too, but MD is near my house so I get stuffs and save some gas.
Sometime I get scared to go to Tom, because I might walk out with light pocket.

Its nice to buy stuff there too because they have what they call "100% hassle-free retruns" This is definitely a bonus when you buy expensive stuff because which lfs offers that? None I know of. Plus you can use your American Express card to get even more buyer protection and extended warranty and reward points.
I have had only good experiences with Marine Depot, however, I can uderstand why the original poster is upset.

I think the will-call guys play the most important part here. I have to say their will-call service isn't as good as when they were in the former location. Before they moved, I bought salt and a chiller from them on different orders and they helped me carry those to my car in both occations. After the move, some will-call guys left and I guess marine depot was thinning their will-call staff too. The new guys are just not as helpful as the old ones and they make mistakes. After all, their prices are great. Who can offer price matches, free shipping and no sales tax?
