Sahn felt sure that all my tank problems were from a corroded magnet. I thought I checked them all well but I recently switched my pumps from Seios to wp-40's and after rinsing the same Seios off with tap water, I left them to dry and haven't given it another thought for weeks... till today when I picked them up to put them away finally.... and I saw this...

I've seen this happen with some magnets I've had. It happened with the IVS Portal and a pump when they had been out of the water for a while. I'm not sure if it was already happening inside and wasn't noticable or if it was an effect of taking them out of the tank.

I was thinking the exact same thing Omar. I think they swelled after they were removed but I imagine it was happening before, too, and I just couldn't see it.

they were rotting inside the tank. when you take the magnet out of the tank. the plastic strink and make it more noticeable. dont use sure grip magnets. check your magnets

I agree. Everything is doing well now. I am seeing great growth. Some of my colors are not great but I know the reasons why. Laziness and lack of time and energy. But all's good.

+1. I wonder if u didn't notice it because it wasn't cracked until the plastic dried out. Just a thought

That amount of corrosion on the magnet is probably a good indicator that it was under some serious exposure to moisture and don't think ambient moisture would've been enough to do that kind've damage. Most likely there was a fissure in the casing or a bad seam and finally warped the crap out of itself after drying out.
