mushroom issues?

This mushroom has been very happy until a few days ago...
used to be big and open all the time, now he is sort of crumbled up a bit...
Any ideas?

mine do the same on occasion, then spring back up after a day or so. I have around eight on a rock and they seem to do it at different times.

I've seen this in my tank, right before they blow off the rock and barn door onto a piece I like and kill it. Sometimes does it b4 a split. I don't think I've ever killed a mushroom b4, maybe, but that was on purpose, flew into my pink jade.
