More babies today!

More than 50% white eggs after looking at the pot though (won't hatch), wondering if it's because I added rots and rgc on the first night?

Still happy with the result, some is better than none! Next time I will pull it on day 8, the reason I did day 7 was when I let them hatch in tank some hatched on day 7, the rest on day 8.

Not sure on how many yet, under 100 for sure.

I just looked in the first clutch's tank and I saw one of them looked like he was starting to get a head stripe, then I saw another one that definitely had a full head stripe! Here is a pic of him (he is 22 days old). The newer batch are doing well and the parents just laid eggs again (even less time than the last round!)

I also have a new addition I will be adding to my collection of pairs this weekend. Will post pics when I get them settled in their new home.

I am planning on putting them in a tank with proper filtration in the next week or so. Right now they just have a sponge filter. Will have to have a sponge over the drain so they don't get sucked in though.

To put them in a regular tank with other fish will probably be another 60-90 days I think, once they are over inch and a quarter / inch and a half in size, at that point I will have some up for sale.

Right now they are too small to handle a lot of flow and would most likely get eaten by most carnivores and omnivores.

Last nights hatch was a complete success! This time around I didn't write the date down when the eggs were laid so I had to eyeball it. I was pretty sure they were going to hatch last night so I pulled the pot out and put it in the rearing tank. This time around I didn't add rotifers at night, I just put the pot in the tank with an airstone blasting right next to the eggs so they were all swaying pretty well.

This morning I checked the tank and almost all of the eggs had hatched! There were less than 10 that didn't, so there are literally a few hundred larvae swimming around this morning! Notice there are a LOT near the front on the glass.

Maroons spawned for the first time today! You can see an orange mass in the back of the pot where the male is!
