So I am really not crafty at all so please have some mercy on me. I built my own stand over a year ago when I set this tank up at work and it's been an eye sore. I couldn't find anyone to make a skin for me that didn't cost $600+ so I decided to make one myself.

I am not a wood guy and this was my first time doing something like this besides the stand which was all 2x4s and nails.

I haven't added the top trim that will give it a nice lip yet, so I will take another picture when I get that up. But what do you guys think?

Oh and I used magnets for the doors so that's why the doors are not even in the picture. A quick nudge does the trick.

Looks very nice good work Steve. Simple and modern looking, nice color too.

**You could easily add some trim and corner pieces later to dress it up more if you want. But it looks nice the way it is.

Honest opinion????

Looks legit man! U did a bad asss job for your first time. I've never worked with wood before, but it looks like something that takes patience and finesse. Things I don't have. Lol

Thanks yes I have the pieces for the corners and top but haven't added it yet. I think some will make it look nice but I liked how this came out so far, I like the simple look.

Yea I only have a miter saw, a circular saw and a drill so there are many imperfections lol. I learned I need more tools.

I used oak except for the doors. I wanted thin sheets and dont know if they make that in oak like that. So I got some other kind and the trim seems to only come in pine. The bottom piece and top that hasn't been added is redwood. all mixed I know but I only used what I could find.

Thank you. You can't see most imperfections but they're everywhere lol. I wanted a lighter color but chose a darker one to hopefully hide some.

Oh and as for the tank itself, I love SCR! I got it through trade here. The fish... Well These are the fish that no one loves! All freebies or fighters for a cheap price from other tanks. Except the purple tang, got him at age of aquariums like 3 years ago. I love him.

What magnets did you use for the doors. I am making a stand and that is a great idea.

I used these and they hold the door well enough but I might get some stronger magnets. Each door has 4, one in each corner.
