What steps do you take to control a red slime algae problem? Do you recommend more new Gfo? Waterchange? Siphon manually? What's the best course of action?

I've been lazy with wc's doing 10% every 2-3 weeks as opposed to 25% every two weeks. Also been lazy on changing small amounts of Gfo and basically adding 4-6 cups and letting it ride a month to 1.5 months.

My bioload is smaller now that I had a jumper (my favorite wrasse) and my fish ate my Scott's fairy wrasse cause they like Aussie on Fridays apparently.

I siphoned some red slime last week and that got some of it. But now it's forming on rock and in the sump. Any suggestions? I know I have a good 2 hour chore ahead of me.

Red slime remover all day. It works so well and is way better than doing the right steps..
I'm the King of that crap. I'm dosing it every three months. I get crap from the smarty pants guys that say "you have to find the root problem, you're just masking a bigger issue." I think you're right on the slime remover, easy and I'm done.

Dude... that LAZY friend of yours saw how bad my tank looked back in the day... I have used dr tims waste away very sucessfully in my tank by doing smaller than advertised doses. I did it for over a year that way... cyano was gone within 1.5 months and hasn't shown back up even with my laziness and crashed my tank (my laziness was over feeding, no water and gfo changes and bad tds lol)

Water change, siphon, and add bacteria from a bottle (not that kind of bacteria, the good kind). I've been doing this for 3 weeks now and it's working well. Also cut back on how much you feed.

Ya I think the type of bacteria I used may not have been anything special after all. Cause the red algae problem just went nuclear a week later

I first ordered it thru fosters and smith (best pricing) but also got it from dr tim himself. Hes up a ventura. Its not cheap but once you talk to him you will know he's legit. I think you can even special order 1 gallon containers. Myself I was dosing 4fl oz in my system ever week for a year.. now I only dose maybe ab ounce every 2 weeks

Did he play with your hair while he told you about his product? Bacteria talk, bbq 101, and the smell of Stetson cologne from the local Sav-ons lingering in the air. Sounds like a lovely evening.
