Hi,

I would recommend doing some research and decide what equipment you will need so people have a better idea. Protein skimmer, sump, chiller, heater ect are common items you might need. Do you have a preference on type of rock, are you looking for dry or live rock? Also let us know where you are located so you can narrow down your search. Many people are willing to help in this hobby but specifics are always best course of action!

It can be overwhelming… find out what you want keep.. buy the right equipment Bulk reef supply has some good beginner videos. Keep in mind it is there purpose to sell you stuff.. but it is a start. Use RODI water to start not tap. Go SLOW… it a fun hobby but it does not happen overnight or over a year.

....and WELCOME.

Second this, do your research learn and keep learning the more in depth you get into the hobby. Most of all PATIENCE is very important and can prevent most problems when starting out. Welcome!

Welcome…tip I suggest. When buying equipment, don’t buy just for your current set up of 55g. Buy equipment for a larger size as you just don’t to be just getting by. Also, eventually you might decide to upgrade so buying good equipment for a larger tank might save you some money down the line.

Welcome!!!! Are going fish only or reef tank? You got a lot of good advice already but my thought is buy the right equipment the first time because I have a closet full of things that I never used or won’t work with the setup I eventually ended up with.
