So yesterday I dosed nopox for the first time ever... today I woke up to find that my one of my acros had RTN'd :'(
Luckily not that deep water I got recently...

But what did I do wrong? I did less than recommended, but was it still too much to start with?

I'm not sure if I should continue or stop. I hope some of you nopox users can chime in here!

You ignored my advice and dosed many anyway instead of letting the gfo do its job. Remember quick changes = bad things in the reef. Should I remind you of your copper issue

I thought a lot about it. There are several things I considered when deciding to do it. And I'm not trying to make the change quick, that's why I used a fraction of the recommended starting dose.

How long does GFO take to see a difference in your numbers?

Can work fairly quickly but depending on your levels can also deplete very quickly also. If you didn't see results right away you may have exhausted the gfo and needed to change it

But I know you don't really want it working THAT quick. Honestly I need to bust out the Hanna and check my levels again cuz I haven't since putting the GFO online. I hate using that thing though so I put it off.
My levels really aren't that high and I hardly have to clean my glass, but I think it's just cuz whatever that nasty stuff is that's growing all over my rocks is consuming it. My chaeto doesn't even grow. I am at my wits end with the stuff growing on my rocks, like Cody was with the blue cloves. I've decided to take more drastic measures.

I was talking to someone recently that was having a bad problem with red turf algae and his situation was similar to mine... levels looked great on paper... he couldn't get rid of it until he finally tried nopox and it did the trick. That's why I ordered it for myself. I just want this stuff gone!

Btw, I knew that I'd be getting a "I told ya so" from you... thanks for not letting me down. :p

Man if all you noise is an acro, not bad. What's not that much? 1ml? You need a powerful skimmer for that stuff.

Works but I don't like how toxic it smells. If I can't drink it, my fishys can't breath it,

Take carbon and gfo off line then u first start doseing.
I'm not running carbon. Why doesn't it tell you that in the instructions?

Yeah I'm not broken hearted over the acro I lost but I don't want to lose anything else.

I probably should've started with 1ml... I did 2mls... the minimum recommended dose for my TWV is 4mls so I halfed it.

My situation is unique... I have phosphates but no nitrates. According to their instructions, you should test for no3 and dose accordingly and the po4 will follow in reduction. I can't dose according to my no3 because it tests at 0ppm (Red Sea). I debated using nopox because of my no3 being 0ppm but I have a theory that, in reality, it is not in fact 0ppm but is showing 0in my tests because the nasty stuff growing on my rocks is consuming all my no3. Like I said, I'm at my wits end with the stuff and I'm at the point I will try whatever.

I know what you mean. Smells like straight up nail polish remover... cuz it basically is.

It's really easy to tell when you over dosed. There will be white string curdled things on your back glass or overflow box. No nitrate, only phosphate, I wouldn't be using that stuff. Sounds like you have an inferior Gfo to me. Or you're skimping on it.

When rowaphos goes on sale you can't beat the product. It lasts longer than brs and also has silica absorber which is a Lil bonus.

Just switched to rowa myself this weekend. So far I like it and from everything I've read and heard from those that use it, its a winner. I also like the fact that it won't leach back the phosphate or silica once its exhausted
